Written by Hank Wedel IMRO
In the spring of 1989, my wife, Eileen and I
moved to a flat on Myrtlehill Terrace
out The Lower Road, Cork City
with our baby son, Ruairi ...
T'was there we met our babysitter, Eleanor Healy...
and the rest is musical history round these parts...
This song is a reflection
of how it was like living there at that time...
In terms of band personnel and vibe,
the sound you're hearing is transitional...
It was when I started riding with
The Galloping Hogans via Kila...
The basic live track, recorded really well
by Dennis Herlihy at De Lacy House
during a 1992 soundcheck
In 1996, I brought a DAT of this performance
to my then new found Dublin guitarist-songwriter-producer
friend Larry Hogan... who added acoustic guitar
and other sounds to the track
as well as recording Shane Scanlan, who, by then,
was playing guitar in The Open Kitchen
This was released previously on the 1997 CDLP
"An Open Kitchen On Princes Street"
on Paddy McNichol’s Rescue Records label
Larry's production features on a later song of mine
called "Mighty Fine", the title track of another compilation
in this Bandcamp Parish...
Larry currently runs "The Dublin Studio Hub"
which y'all should check out for great audio
and visual productions
