about

Song For You (Wedel-Carroll) IMRO

I wrote this in 1985 with Brian Carroll
and recorded a two verse version
with Open Kitchen NYC in 1986...
By 1989, we were doing it with Princes Street
as a full on rocker with a long ass, ballsy slide guitar solo
but when it came to recording, our producer,
Declan Sinnott suggested we write another verse...
which we did and that's what you hear here...
Brian and I encouraging you all to keep on rolling,
keep on dreamin' to keep on livin' ;lovin' and believin'
while the music swirls all around us...

It was the only vinyl single we ever released
in May 1990, JUST as CDs were becoming
the more common medium
Within a month of that, we split up
and dispersed out of Cork...

If you want a copy,
check out the merch section on this page
There may still be some unsold copies
complete with the single cover
of a Kangaroo letting it all hang out...
(Brian's idea - which I thought chimed in with
the idea of all these 80's pop stars
like Prince and Madonna
gittin nekkid all the time...whatever)

"Speak To Me" on the B-side

~It was also released in 1997 on a CDLP
entitled
"An Open Kitchen on Princes Street"
on Paddy McNichol's "Rescue Records"
