about

Recorded by Open Kitchen during an electrical storm
at Simon Taylor's Coad Mountain Studios, Co. Kerry
on The 4th of July 2000...

As we were laying down the basic tracks,
thunder, lightning and high winds blew all around
Simon Taylor's Coad Mountain house-studio
where the band and producer Lance Hogan of Kila
were recording.
The song was written in and around 1995
after Open Kitchen played some US gigs
in May of that year.
The phrase "Global America" was an observation
originally made by Brian Carroll during that trip.
It started as 2 chord noise rant,
but on Coad Mountain, it was given a multi chord structure
by Lance and soon tidied up by
the almighty Open Kitchen rhythm section
of ShaneDaBass and Martin Leahy.
Shane Scanlan performed a killer guitar solo at the end.
Apart from Lance, most of Kila are chanting on this track, too.
Released as part of the Open Kitchen album
"Taking It In" in 2002
This track got into the Top 40 of Neil Young's
"Living with War Today" song charts in 2007
competing with thousands of songs from all over the world...
this led to some soap operatic consequences 'round Cork City...
but that's another tale...
not to be told here...

lyrics

Everywhere I go
I can't believe it's not America
All Over The World
I can't believe it's not America

Global America!

Everywhere I go
I can't believe it's not America
all Over The USA
I can't believe it's not America
It's changin
Gettin strange'n'
Ya wanna help it on it's way?

Global America!

Cousin Minnie sez "How DEEEELICIOUS?"
Little Debbie gotta snack for you
You Want it?
You Got it!
We gonna go out and get it for you!
You Want it?
You Got it!
We gonna send the army in, too!

Global America!

The right to bear arms is constituted
some thing really bugs you
you can shoot it
ab lib around this phrase )

Global America!
